Heart Rimu
Rich dark Brown/Yellow in colour the heartwood is cut from the center of the tree, can have some knots, lots of character and colour, makes for a beautiful warm hard wearing floor.

Sap Rimu
Lighter in colour than the heart timber and is generally cut from the outer part of the tree. Some knots, makes for a lighter coloured floor. Mainly found in 1960s and 1970s houses.
