Tawa

Not widely used until the 1950s, Tawa is normally always in stock. Sandy white to a tan/brown, straight grained with no knots, very hard wearing, makes for a lighter coloured floor than rimu or matai. Often Tawa can have distinctive black streaks on some boards. Tawa was mostly used in the 1950s to 1970s and is usually only available in ex 4" (81-86mm).
